Download Directions
Simply click the following link: Upgrade to Version 1.9.2.1

  • You will be asked to input your name, company, email address and the serial number(s) of the 2975(s) you own. You will also be asked what type of file you want to download.  You have the choice of downloading a floppy extractor that will build a set of floppies to upgrade the unit or a reload file that you can FTP into the unit or load using the units web server.

When you are done, please click on the SUBMIT button. Two things will happen:

You will be sent the user name and password via email. Depending upon your email system, you should receive this message in about five minutes.

Your browser will be sent to a page containing some final instructions and a link to the software download. This link is password protected - you will need the user name and password from above to proceed.

  • When you have received the email, click on the link to the software. Your browser will prompt you for the user name and password you received in the email. Enter them now.

Depending on the type of file you chose to download, your browser will then start downloading the appropriate file.

  • If you chose to download the floppy extractor, the file downloaded will be named your browser will then start downloading the file Vx_y_z.EXE (where x_y_z is the version). Save this file to a convenient place (such as your desktop). This file is a 8 megabyte download, which will take:
    • about half an hour over a 28.8 kbps modem
    • about 15 minutes over a 56 kbps modem
    • about two minutes over a DSL connection
    • about a minute over a T1 or cable modem

Once the program is downloaded, you may run it by double-clicking on it.

  • If you chose to download the reload file, the file downloaded will be named reload.tar.gz.  Save this file to a conventient place (such as your desktop).  You can then push the file into the  IFR2975 using FTP software or the unit's internal web server function.

Floppy Install Directions

The floppy builder program "V1_9_2_1.exe" will make floppy disks for loading the 2975 with Version 1.9.2.1 software.

This floppy builder program requires about six (6) blank floppy disks and a PC running Windows™.

To reload the 2975, follow the instructions below:

1) Remove any disk from your computer's floppy drive.

2) Run the program "V1_9_2_1.exe" by double-clicking on it. You will see the WinZip self-extracting archive window appear with the text "Extract 2975 V1.9.2.1 Install floppy creator?" Click on the OK button to extract the program and start the creation of the disks.

3) After the program has extracted itself, you will see a window:

Clicking [Close] will abort this process.
Clicking on [Start] will begin the process.

4) You will be prompted to insert a floppy disk. THIS DISK WILL BE FORMATTED AND ANY DATA ON IT DESTROYED! It is recommended that you use new, fresh floppies.

5) You will the see the "format disk" menu. This menu varies slightly between versions of Windows™. Select either "quick format" or "Full format" and format the disk. (You can probably just accept the defaults as shown.) Most versions of Windows™ will ask you one last time to confirm you want to format the disk.

6) When the format is done, click on the "CLOSE" (or "DONE") button.

7) The program will then start writing the first disk's data to the floppy. Now might be a good time to make a paper label for the disk (something like "2975 V1.9.2.1 Disk 1 of 6").

8) When the copy is complete, you will be prompted to remove the disk and label it.

9) Repeat steps 5 through 8 for all disks. Eventually, the program will stop prompting you for more disks and will show "Status: done". You may now close the window.

10) Power the 2975 ON.

11) Go to the Software RELOAD screen by pressing MODE, 7, 4 on the 2975 keypad.

12) Insert disk #1 into the 2975 floppy drive.

13) Press the "Check floppy" soft key. The 2975 should access the floppy (the light on the floppy drive will come on) and a message "Copying update file to hard drive" will appear. Shortly thereafter, the message "System update now at /usr/reload/reload.tar.gz" will appear. You may see the message, "Error reading floppy." You can ignore this message and continue to step 14 below.

14) Press the "Reload System" button. A big red warning will appear.
Press the "Start Install" button. Very quickly, a window will appear stating:

Loading sections from floppy
Loading disk 1
[CANCEL [F6]]

The unit will now start reading the parts of the reload file from the disk. This takes a while, please be patient.

Eventually, the window will change to:

Loading sections from floppy
Loading disk 1
Please insert disk 2
[CONTINUE [F1]] [CANCEL [F6]]

15) Remove the disk and insert the next disk. Press the "Start Install" soft key. The window will change to:

Loading sections from floppy
Loading disk 2
[CANCEL [F6]]

Repeat Step 15 until all disks have been loaded into the 2975.
THE SOFTWARE IS NOT INSTALLED YET! KEEP GOING!

The software will now begin to install on the 2975. Please be patient, this will take approximately 20 minutes. When all four status bars are completely blue and the message "System Firmware Update Installation is Done" appears at the bottom of the screen, turn the unit OFF by pressing the POWER button.

Wait a moment, remove any floppy disks within the unit and then turn the 2975 back ON. You should now be at the latest version. You can check this by going to the VERSION screen by pressing MODE, 7, 3.

Option Installation

After entering or verifying a valid 2975 serial number, one or more of the available 2975 Software Options may be installed.

Refer to the Try Before Buy Page for details about options for the 2975.
